David is managing partner of Wotton + Kearney and since the firm's inception in 2002 has combined a busy insurance practice with overseeing the significant growth of the firm.  In November 2009 he was recognised by the Australasian Legal Business (ALB) Magazine as a "leading light" in the ALB Hot 40 Survey for his leadership culminating in Wotton + Kearney being recognised as the Insurance Specialist Firm of the Year for 2009.

In 2008, David was the first of many partners to be interviewed in the ALB AXIA Managing Partner series of interviews.

David's insurance practice incorporates matters across a variety of product lines.  In more recent times he has handled and supervised claims relating to:

  • professional indemnity (particularly construction professionals and accountants);
  • financial lines;
  • construction and contract works; and
  • public and products liability.

In June 2009, David was recognised as a leading lawyer in insurance law in the ALB Guide to Insurance Law.

David's recent matters include:

  • acting for the principal contractor of a $110 million project relevant to damage to adjoining properties and to the contract works themselves;
  • acting for a securities lender relevant to a series of claims brought by that lender's clients in relation to lending and related practices; and
  • acting for consulting engineers relevant to the design of the complex pontoon system at the National Maritime Museum in Sydney.
