Jin has practised in the area of insurance litigation since 2005. She was previously a solicitor at DLA Phillips Fox (Melbourne).
Prior to her admission into practice, Jin was the Associate to Associate Justice Kings of the Supreme Court of Victoria. She has an in-depth knowledge of Victorian civil procedure and the workings of the Victorian courts system. She was actively involved in the reform of procedures and the introduction of policies relating to the management of civil matters by the Court.
Jin's legal experience has also included a placement at an international law firm in Hong Kong.
She has been involved in professional indemnity, property damage, product and public liability claims.
Jin's recent matters include:
- acting for financial advisers who provided advice in relation to unit trusts which have exposure to collateralised debt obligations;
- acting for the professional indemnity insurer D&O insurer of the Opes Prime Group in relation to the $600 million collapse of Opes Prime involving a range of indemnity, regulatory and liability issues;
- acting for an auditor in the partnership responsible for the audit of the statutory accounts of a major law firm in South Australia the subject of $6 million of claims arising from defalcations;
- acting for financial advisers in relation to claims brought by former clients alleging inappropriate advice with respect to margin loans and gearing levels;
- acting in major indemnity disputes arising out of the $300 million Westpoint property group collapse including the aggregation of claims under professional indemnity policy in the application of an approved products list in exclusion in the New South Wales Court of Appeal;
- conducting the defence of professional negligence claims for one of Australia's largest private client stockbroking organisations;
- acting for a contract works insurer in proceedings arising from damage by fire to the redevelopment of the St Aidan's Orphanage in Bendigo, Victoria; and
- acting for plumbers in a range of property damage claims.
Jin regularly appears as an advocate at interlocutory applications in the Federal, Supreme, County and Magistrates' Courts.

Jin is the Secretary of Memberships of Women In Insurance (Victoria) and a member of the Young Lawyers Section of the Law Institute of Victoria and Victorian Women Lawyers.
