Lisa is a Senior Associate who recently joined Wotton + Kearney from Hall and Wilcox. Lisa has practised in accident compensation and personal injury litigation on behalf of Worksafe Victoria and its authorised insurance agents for over six years. She has also practised in insurance litigation primarily dealing in public liability defence matters.
Lisa has acted in the following areas:
- Serious Injury applications under s.134AB and s135A of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (Vic)
- Common law actions for general damages and pecuniary loss damages commenced by seriously injured
- Workers and proceedings for contribution against manufacturers of goods, occupiers and host employers
- Claims for statutory benefits under the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (Vic)
- Appeals to the Victorian Supreme Court of Appeal arising out of both Serious Injury and statutory benefits claims
- Dependency claims under the Wrongs Act 1958 (Vic) and the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (Vic)
- Public and occupier’s liability claims
Lisa’s recent matters include:
- An action brought by an apprentice worker who suffered severe burns when an oxyacetylene torch exploded. This involved commencement of third party proceedings against the manufacturer of the torch
- A catastrophic injury claim by a teenage gym assistant who became paraplegic after she was crushed by a trampoline
- A claim for facial scarring involving a worker who was assaulted by a patron at the hotel in which he worked
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) claims involving members of the Victoria Police and Country Fire Authority
- Gradual process injuries brought by process workers and factory workers
- Claims by registered nurses and personal care attendants who alleged injuries arising out of assisting elderly and/or disabled patients
- A claim by machine operator who severed several of his fingers when they became trapped in a machine
