Simon joined W+K’s Sydney office in 2007 and was promoted to Senior Associate in July 2010. He practises primarily in the Supreme and Federal Court jurisdictions.
Simon regularly advises insurers on indemnity issues in relation to D&O, Professional Indemnity, Public Liability, ISR and Error and Omissions policies. He has acted on behalf of insurers in relation to a broad range of litigated indemnity claims and subrogated recovery actions.
Simon's recent matters include:
- acting on behalf of a supplier of the timber shipping cradles in multimillion-dollar damages proceedings brought in the Admiralty List of the Supreme Court;
- successfully defending a million-dollar claim brought against insurers arising out of substantial fire damage to a public hall;
- acting to protect insurer’s rights in relation to a number of prosecutions brought by the ACCC against various directors and officers;
- advising insurers in respect of various claims made against financial planners and actuaries;
- acting for a public liability insurer in defence of a $20 million dollar claim arising out of a construction project in Singapore; and
- appearing in a broad range of Supreme and Federal Court matters.
