W+K’s (half) marathon effort for the Tabitha Foundation

Early on Sunday 20 May a team of 5 from W+K could be found pounding the streets of Sydney in the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon.

Some of the team were seasoned runners, while for others it was their first attempt at the 21.1km course that started at St Mary’s Cathedral and took in some of Sydney’s most iconic landmarks, before finishing in Hyde Park. The team’s training efforts were well rewarded with everyone completing the course in impressive times, including an awe-inspiring 1 hour 20 minute run by Richie Connell, placing him 105th out of a field of almost 11,000 finishers!

The team participated in the run to raise funds for the Tabitha Foundation.

In November 2012, 6 W+K staff will travel to Cambodia with the Foundation to build 12 houses for impoverished Cambodian families. The half marathon was the firm’s inaugural fund raising activity for the project and through a number of other events, including a charity dinner and auction on 31 May, we are aiming to raise $20,000 between now and November (all costs of the trip will be met by the individual members of staff).

Congratulations to everyone who took part and thank you to all who sponsored them.
