On Tuesday 15 May 2012, a team from Wotton + Kearney’s Sydney office participated in The Public Interest Law Clearing House (PILCH) Walk for Justice as part of its Community Footprint Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

The Walk for Justice aims to increase public awareness of the unmet legal needs in our community and raise funds to support PILCH and raise the profile of pro bono legal services in NSW. More than 600 people took part in the early morning walk along the Harbour foreshore from Hyde Park.

Since August 2011, Wotton + Kearney has partnered with PILCH’s Offshore Asylum Seeker Project to provide assistance to people in immigration detention throughout Australia who have been refused refugee status and have the right to judicial review. Wotton + Kearney is currently assisting 7 clients on a pro bono basis through the asylum seeker project. Our first matter was heard by the Federal Magistrates Court in March 2012 and judgement was handed down in our client’s favour.
