In our next Q&A with recently promoted partners, we get to know Perth Financial Lines lead Luke Vincent.

Tell us about your journey to becoming a partner at W+K

I took a slightly unorthodox path. Following law school, I went on a 2 year overseas sabbatical (via LA, NYC and London) honing my legal craft leading walking tours of Big Ben and other iconic tourist attractions, flogging tickets to pub crawls and carrying plasterboards up stairs.

After finally having the overdue realisation that I should probably put my degree to use and having never set foot in a law firm, I jagged a job clerking for a senior barrister who was running the Cross City Tunnel case. After some long nights and with 25 of my PLT days remaining, he helpfully informed me that ‘barristers’ don’t hire solicitors and called in a favour so that I could finish the balance of my PLT days at a national insurance firm who then offered me a graduate role as solicitor.

After 5 years there, I thought I would see what else was out there and moved to W+K. With the fabulous support from my team and clients, I’ve recently been promoted to partner and taken on an exciting role leading our financial lines offering in W+K’s Perth office.
