We are pleased to announce nine promotions including four to the partnership, the most significant in our firm’s history. Our new partners are Suzanne Craig, Greg Carruthers-Smith, Katie Shanks and William Robinson. These additions herald our firm’s continued commitment to be the premier insurance law firm in the Australasian market and at the same time, bolsters our capability as a founding member of Legalign Global – an alliance of four of the world’s leading insurance law firms.

Suzanne Craig is an experienced financial lines lawyer with a speciality in professional indemnity, management liability and directors and officers’ claims, including two very successful secondments with insurers. Having worked in both Melbourne and Sydney, Suzanne is highly regarded as a skilled litigator and an excellent mentor to junior lawyers.

Greg Carruthers-Smith is a general liability specialist with a focus on the public sector and acts in high profile and complex claims for NSW government agencies and statutory corporations.

Katie Shanks has extensive experience in Australia and NZ as coverage and defence counsel on a wide range of professional indemnity and financial lines claims. She is also experienced in property and contract works, and was an integral part of W+K’s project team arising from the NZ earthquakes. She has completed secondments with 2 of the firm’s key clients.

William Robinson specialises in personal injury, building and occupational health and safety disputes, public and occupiers’ liability, as well as property damage claims and now heads up the General Liability team in the firm’s growing Perth office.

“We would like to congratulate all nine lawyers on their promotions and thank them for their ongoing and significant contribution to the firm” advises W+K’s Chief Executive Partner, David Kearney. “We would like to especially welcome Suzanne, Katie, Greg and William to the partnership, acknowledging that each of them have excelled across a broad range of criteria including technical excellence, client relationships and living our values. Whilst each has been promoted on merit, we are particularly delighted to be promoting two more female partners and another part time partner to our partnership team, all of whom will add to the diversity of our leadership group”.

We would also like to welcome Special Counsel appointments including Hope Saloustros and Ed O’Brien in Melbourne, Elizabeth Conlan in Brisbane and Karina Mandinga and Tom Cavanagh to Senior Associate in Sydney.
