Gavin is a senior litigation and investigations lawyer with deep expertise in class actions, regulatory investigations, and complex commercial disputes. He has acted for government bodies, multinational corporations, and listed companies across federal and state courts, royal commissions, and international arbitrations.
Gavin’s class action experience includes defending high-profile matters involving environmental disasters, product liability, and public infrastructure, such as the Black Saturday bushfires, Queensland floods, and the Roundup herbicide litigation. He also advises on regulatory investigations, including matters before the Crime and Corruption Commission, ASIC, and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
In the health and aged care sector, Gavin represented one of Australia’s largest providers in the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, and regularly advises on privacy, compliance, and reputational risk. With a background in finance and law, Gavin brings commercial acumen and strategic insight to every matter. He is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.

- Defending Monsanto (the makers of Roundup herbicide) in a class action alleging that exposure to Roundup causes non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
- Defending a Queensland government-owned corporation in a class action arising out of the 2011 Queensland floods alleging that improper operation of flood mitigation dams exacerbated flooding in the Brisbane area.
- Defending the State of Victoria in a class action arising out of the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires.

- Acting for a major telecommunications provider in an investigation in relation to a representative privacy complaint made to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
- Acting for one of Australia’s largest residential aged care providers in the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
- Acting for a ‘Big 4’ bank in relation to ASIC investigations arising out of the Financial Services Royal Commission.
- Acting for an ASX-listed company in relation to a high-profile ASIC investigation of alleged breaches of continuous disclosure obligations. The investigation was overlaid by the significant risk of shareholder class actions.
- Acting for a French events contractor in a dispute with the Organising Committee of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
