Genelle practises in general liability, representing large commercial insurers and their customers in a broad range of insurance disputes. She has experience defending personal injury claims involving dust diseases, public liability and aviation liability cases as well as handling multi-million dollar cross-border insurance disputes. Genelle is also experienced in managing subrogated recoveries.

Over her career, Genelle has worked in the property, energy and marine claims teams of international insurers in London and Melbourne, where she handled complex multi-million dollar insurance disputes on behalf of insurers.

She previously worked at a law firm in Toronto where she specialised in handling aviation liability claims and advising on corporate errors and omission insurance policies with respect to financial institutions claims.

Personal Injury

    • Defending a class action involving allegations of personal injuries concerning negligence and false imprisonment, including drafting and finalising the Settlement Deed and attending to the settlement approval process.


    • Advising aviation insurers on coverage issues following a product liability claim concerning a satellite, including analysing whether there had been “damage”. The claim was in the region of EUR22 million and subject to arbitration in the International Chamber of Commerce.


    • Acting on behalf of insurers in a USD9 million subrogation claim following a fire and negotiating a settlement of the claim at a WP meeting.

  • Advising Hull and Machinery and Increased Value London and overseas underwriters in respect of a total loss claim following a high profile ship casualty.
