Magda is a leading technology lawyer who specialises in cybersecurity, data and technology law. She deeply understands emerging issues, new technologies and threats, including the macro legislative and political environment, the vendors and key players, commercial and contract models, and their limitations.

She advises on a range of matters spanning cybersecurity, incident management, data, privacy, risk advisory, software licensing, infrastructure, product innovation and commercialisation, digital transformation, outsourcing, telco law and corporate governance. Magda is known for her expertise in supporting technology commercial transactions across their lifecycle, data collection and retention processes, data protection compliance, contract and policy reviews, and cyber incident response.

As well as her law firm career, Magda was formerly the Legal Business Partner, Networks & IT, at Telstra. She has also worked as an in-house legal advisor in a number of Australian Government agencies. Her in-house experience in private enterprise and government roles have influenced Magda’s outcomes-focused and commercial approach to legal issues.   • Acting as the legal lead for Telstra on strategic transactions and emerging technology, including the roll-out of 5G, wholesale and partnering arrangements, edge compute, cloud, SAAS and hyperscaler arrangements and UberAir.
  • Acting for the Australian Government on a range of major technology transactions, including Defence Aerospace, ICT outsourcing, software licensing, probity and grants.
  • Acting as lead legal adviser to Telstra’s Executive and Board Audit & Risk Committee regarding risks associated with Telstra’s $11b infrastructure portfolio.
  • Providing legal support on Telstra’s Digitisation program, a key enabler for Telstra’s T22 strategy, to deliver the system changes, software and legacy IT technology exit to support Telstra’s customer experience transformation.
  • Advising on sustainable and responsible business practices for Telstra’s infrastructure in the context of the Bushfires Royal Commission.
