Tushka is an experienced litigator with significant advocacy and trial experience. Tushka specialises in defending psychiatric injury claims including relating to institutional abuse, forced adoption, and other primary and secondary psychiatric injuries such as nervous shock claims. Tushka also has significant experience in dust disease litigation, other sensitive and complex personal injury claims, and workers’ compensation and recovery actions.
Tushka also regularly provides complex coverage advice to insurer clients, including in litigated indemnity proceedings.
Tushka has completed secondments with a large national insurer and religious institutions through which she has gained a practical understanding of the in-house perspective, and she recognises the importance of meeting client expectations, providing clear advice and accurate reserving. Tushka approaches claims commercially and takes a pragmatic approach to defending complex legal claims, including providing detailed liability and quantum advice. Tushka also regularly advises on responding to broader portfolio issues and claim trends.

- Defending former manufacturers, employers and other entities including mining companies in personal injury claims arising from exposures to asbestos-containing products or other toxic dusts, including estate and dependency claims, and pursuing contribution and recovery actions for asbestos liabilities.
